I purchased a sample set from Flâner before purchasing Under the Rose. I loved all of these beautiful, naturalistic, fragrances but in the end this was the sample that I finished first (the true test!). You really can smell the whole rose, stems and all, and the leather is such a bad ass touch. Under the Rose is perfectly unisex. I can’t wear her out of the house without getting compliments, and honestly I don’t usually get fragrance-related compliments. An absolutely delightful perfume, and I can’t thank the staff at Flâner enough for being absolutely delightful too (I always have such fun sampling in your store!). The stunningly luxurious packaging is the cherry on top. EVERYONE should get around this Aussie perfume brand. :)
Under the Rose
This is a beautiful rose scent that is nowhere near the 'too sweet' category that some rose top note EDPs fall into.
I'm awarding four stars rather than the 5 stars I think this EDP deserves because projection and sillage were not great for me. However, your mileage may vary. I have mature (read: dry) skin that makes all EDP usage a bit challenging.
If you've got bouncy moisture-rich skin and are seeking a rose perfume that is not sickly sweet and don't want to fork our big bucks for the similar Le Labo Rose 31, this is the EDP for you.
Flaner's Under the Rose is my go-to when I'm not wearing the similar Le Labo Rose 31 and is at a much more budget-friendly price point. I love both Under the Rose and Rose 31 and wear Under the Rose when I can get away with reduced projection and sillage per my mature (dry) skin.
This was my favourite out of all their fragrances. The opening isn't your typical rose, it's dark, earthy, and dense. The bright tartness highlights through the opening and gets stronger through the heart, before turning animalic in the base. This is something special.
Love this perfume! Smells like a garden full of roses! I have been wearing it everyday since I got it with so many compliments! There is nothing like it on the market!
